This website is run by Griffs Family Butchers Ltd, company number 10541769, of 175 Lower Blandford Road, Broadstone, Dorset, BH18 8DH. This page explains what the site stores on your device, and why.
The short version
The site sets one cookie of its own, and only once you put something in your basket. It is strictly necessary for the shop to work, so the law does not require us to ask first, which is why you will not see a cookie banner. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and the way we count visits does not use cookies at all.
The cookie we set
- Name: sbd_cart_id
- Set by: griffsfamilybutchers.com (our own site, not a third party)
- What it does: remembers which basket is yours, so your shopping is still there as you move between pages and when you come back
- When it is set: the first time you add something to your basket. Just browsing sets nothing
- How long it lasts: 70 days, unless you clear it sooner
- Type: strictly necessary. It holds a basket reference and nothing about who you are
Counting visits without cookies
We use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool hosted for us by our web developer, Sandbanks Digital. It tells us which pages are visited and which websites sent people here. It does not set cookies, does not store anything on your device, and does not follow you across other websites.
Other storage on your device
Cookies are not the only way a website can store information on your device. Ours does not use the others either: no local storage and no session storage.
When you pay
Payment is handled by Shopify. When you go to checkout you move to Shopify’s secure checkout, where Shopify sets its own cookies to take your payment and to prevent fraud. Those cookies are Shopify’s, and are described in Shopify’s cookie policy.
The map on our contact page
The map on our contact page comes from Google. We load it by our address rather than by our business listing, which, when we checked, means Google sets no cookies through it. Your browser still connects to Google to draw the map, so Google receives your IP address, as it would from any website that shows a Google map.
Security and server logs
The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which protects it from attacks. If Cloudflare ever needs to check that a visitor is a person rather than a bot, it may set a short-lived security cookie called cf_clearance for that visitor. Most visitors never meet this.
Like any website, our hosting also keeps ordinary server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and running. Server logs are kept on the server, not on your device, so they are not cookies.
Facebook and Instagram
Our links to Facebook and Instagram are ordinary links. Nothing from those sites loads on ours, so they cannot set cookies here. If you follow a link, their own cookie policies apply on their sites.
Controlling cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings. If you block our basket cookie, the shop will not be able to keep your basket, but you can still browse the site, or order by phone on 01202 605172.
Changes and questions
If we change what the site stores, we will update this page and the date at the top. For anything else about your information, see our privacy policy. Questions are welcome on 01202 605172 or at [email protected].
